Adult classes at Studio Arts are perfect for beginning students and for the more experienced artist who desires individual guidance and relaxing studio time. Our instructors are working artists who understand that considerate, supportive instruction will help your creative spirit expand so you can rapidly gain new skills. No “killer critics” here. Just check out our studio. It is alive with the glowing energy of the children who have just finished their class. Their work is always available for viewing to inspire your grown-up soul.

Creating With Heart

Some of us are blocked creatives, dreaming of a day when expressive freedom flows from the center of our beings. Balance, connectedness, community, and self-honoring are our deepest longings. This 13-week class provides the tools you need to discover your blocks and clear them. Our circle will provide support as the awesome power of creativity transforms your path. Joanna Jacobus, psychotherapist, and Barley Vogel, visual artist and Studio Arts director, facilitate this spirit-centered class with art play and process work. Join other artists, musicians, dancers, writers, poets, and serious dreamers who wish to work “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. Purchase the book for the first class and read through Chapter One. You will receive a special notebook for homework pages, and art supplies for projects. To get on our class wait list, email

The Art Class for Adults

Just like our classes for kids and teens, The Art Class for Adults is designed for fun and success. We take the same project based method we use to teach technique with simple instruction to our children and teens with same amazing results for adults. Honor your creativity and make art with other folks who feel the need for some fun and connection in the midst of big world stuff. Also a great class for working artists to  get started up again, identify and work through any blocks.

Currently held in person for vaccinated adults this Spring. Ask for details as this is an off – schedule offering. Summer open to anyone in person.

From observational painting to painting through photos to abstraction, this painting class is welcome to all skill levels and interests! We will focus on developing various painting techniques, studio etiquette, planning and preparing, and teaching how to create a painting from start to finish. Lots of great feedback and one-on-one critique given. A great place to become inspired and to grow your love of painting! with Katie Schuldenberg

You are, of course, able to use our paint and materials supplied at the studio. We provide acrylic paint and watercolor, along with brushes, etc..  We encourage you to buy your own paints so you can continue working on projects at home if you so desire! We can definitely assist you with what brands are best for the painting you plan on doing! (If you paint with oils, please only bring odorless solvent and your own brushes and supplies)

Zoom: The Art of Photography with Haley Hill

The Art of Photography

The Art of Photography Class

This class will cover all the photo basics while exploring the artistic side of photography. Students will simultaneously receive the foundational skills they need while experimenting with alternative processes of photo making (think cyanotypes!). Photo basics like composition, light, and color will be covered as well, but we’ll be playing with common household items to manipulate the lens and produce some truly unique imagery.

This class is perfect for someone feeling stuck in their creative photography practice or if you want to learn more techniques to grow your photography work. Let’s take a look at photography through a different lens!
